HOW TO ACCESS LIGATURE ON CANVA PRO
Hi there,
Before following this tutorial, we hope you have used the Pro version of Canva because the Free version of Canva cannot use custom fonts.
The font with the heart character has been updated and separated according to the additional characters in the font features such as heart, tail, and tail heart.
If you want to use a font with separated characters, you must use several Text Boxes, because Canva does not support using multiple fonts in one Text box.
Text box 1 Name Font: Heart Style – Tail Typing uppercase ‘H’
Text box 2 Name Font: Heart Style Typing ‘ear’
Text box 3 Name Font: Heart Style – Heart Typing lowercase ‘t’
Text box 4 Name Font: Heart Style Typing ‘styl’
Text box 5 Name Font: Heart Style – Tail Typing lowercase ‘e’
After that, block all text boxes and select the group or Ctrl+G (Windows) or Cmd+G (Mac)
However, if you feel that using a font with separated characters is quite complicated, you only need to install Heart Style.OTF in Canva and follow the tutorial below.
To use character ligatures or the extra characters (Heart or tail) to make it even more awesome in Canva Pro, you can use the Font Book application for Mac and Character Map for Windows.
for Windows:
Open the Windows Character Map App.
Set the Font to the desired one in the list.
At the bottom, check [ ] Advanced View
In the “Group by” dropdown, select “Unicode Subrange”
In the “Group By” menu that opened on the right side, scroll to the bottom and select “Private Use Characters”.
Now, on the left side, you will see all the PUA-encoded characters. You can click on the characters to see them a little bit bigger. If you want to use one of the characters, click “Select” and after click “Copy”. Now you can go to your application and Ctrl+V the character, and it will show up!
Alternatively, use the premium app PopChar.
for Mac
After you installed the font
Open the FontBook app, choose the font that you want to use.
To copy characters, go to Preview / View > Repertoire.
Select and copy(CMD + C) the desired character.
You can paste(CMD + V) the character(s) into the text field of your Canva
